Spanish Culture

One is the capital of Spain and the other the capital of Antoni Gaudi. The park Güell in Barcelona is an obligation. Gaudí unleashed all his architectonic genius and put to practice much of his innovative structural solutions that would become the symbol of his organic style and that would culminate in the creation of the cathedral Sagrada Familia.
And be impressed of the Almudena Cathedral in Madrid. The Neo-Gothic interior is uniquely modern, with chapels and statues of contemporary artists, in heretogeneous styles, from historical revivals to "pop-art" decor. The Blessed Sacrament Chapel features mosaic from known artist Marko Ivan Rupnik.
Go to the MACBA, the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art. The collections focus on post-1945 Catalan and Spanish art, although some International artists are also represented. And in Madrid you have to go to the Museo del Prado, the main spanish national art museum. Don't miss Las Meninas by Diego Velàzquez or the numerous works by Francisco de Goya and many other artists.

Spanish Cuisine

Barcelona is of the world's best cities when it comes to eating and drinking. The locals already know that. The offer is varied, high-quality, monumental - from the neighbourhood tapas bar that's been around forever to the 23 restaurants boasting Michelin stars. The same applies to the capital. Great chefs of Spanish cuisine like David Muñoz, Ramón Freixa and Sergi Arola have chosen Madrid as the home for their restaurants.
And after an extraordinary dining experience, walk through the city in the evening, enjoy the lights of the port olympic of Barcelona and discover some of the most generous bars in the city – where they give you free tapas when you order your drink. Or take a walk through the beautiful old town of Madrid and be fascinated by the evening flair, the musicians in the alleys and the energy of Puerta del Sol, one of the busiest places in Madrid.

Spanish Fashion

But Madrid is not just a city with a long history, a fine cultural heritage and the best night-life in Europe. The major stores are concentrated in the district known as Barrio de Salamanca. The area’s main shopping street is Calle Serrano, which boasts a great many top stores and brands including Carolina Herrera,  Armani Collezioni, Carolina Herrera, Spanish designer Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Gucci and the El Corte Inglés department store chain and in the street Calle José Ortega y Gasset you find the highest concentration of luxury brands. This street is home to Valentino, Hermès, Chanel, Escada, Dolce & Gabana, Bottega Veneta,Dior and Hugo Boss, among others.
With hundreds of women’s shops all over the city, Barcelona is today synonymous of women’s wear. Creators are many and they are really tempting. Be surprised by the great opportunities you’ll find with young designers in Barcelona, the city of dreams.

Spanish Stage

Madrid and Barcelona, with their melting pots of cultures and their extensive cultural features, give us a wide agenda of classical and pop/electronic music concerts and theatre performances in different public and private institutions..
The Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid is a vibrant music centre. Up to four concerts a day can be held in its two concerts halls, the Symphony Hall and the Chamber Hall. Opera has its reference in the Teatro Real, located opposite the Palacio Real of Madrid in the Plaza de Oriente. Go out in the summer and watch a movie at Parque de la Bombilla, an open-air cinema. And over the last few years electro and minimal/tech house music clubs have begun popping up all over town..
The capital has also many locations for live music and theatre, including the world-renowned Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, L'Auditori, the Teatre Lliure and the Palau de la Música Catalana concert hall. The GREC festival takes place every summer and brings highly renowned performers and companies to Barcelona..
Barcelona is also home to the Sónar Music Festival, an electronica music festival, as well as the Primavera Sound Festival which both take place around May and June every year. .
And thanks to a lot of Andalucia immigrants living here, Barcelona has some of the best flamenco artists in Spain !
